EDGE MIRRORS
Edge mirrors are designed for the use of Numismatists to inspect the edge surface of collectible valuable coins. Many old coins had printing stamped onto the edge to prevent the gold and silver from being scraped off and collected by dishonest persons. The same reason our government began using the reeding around the edges of USA coins. The coin to be inspected is placed inside the edge mirror. Then if looked at or photographed from a position directly above the coin/mirror, the characters stamped onto the edge may be seen clearly. The mirrors are made from high grade aircraft aluminum or stainless steel and are polished flat to a 4 micron finish. They are cleaned with alcohol and a micro-fiber cloth. Each mirror is custom made for a certain size range of coins.Reverse edge mirrors are available for inspecting the inside areas of highly machined tubes. The variety of uses is limited only by one's imagination.
